Focus on Athlete: Ji Xinli

As we previously highlighted in our Focus on Athlete series, a few people already accomplished last year what is now officially introduced as the King of the Grasslands competition: three days of long distance MTB + the Grassland Marathon. Previously we shed the spotlight on Hauke Stockrahm, now it is the turn of China's Ji Xinli.

Logistics: EXTRA bus from Beijing

Recently, Air China moved its morning return flight schedule from Beijing to Xilinhot forward by more than one hour, posing us with a logistical challenge for runners with travel packages opting to leave the grasslands on Sunday morning. In order to make these people's visit in Xiwuqi as rewarding as possible, Nordic Ways can introduce an extra bus service from Beijing and back.

Attention: Chinese to sign up with ID card name

A short but important message to all our Chinese participants who have signed up or will sign up for the Genghis Khan Festival. For insurance reasons, we do need to have your Chinese maiden name in Chinese characters. Your adopted English name or pinyin alone is insufficient.

Heaps of prizes from Chain Reaction Cycles

Chain Reaction Cycles is the world's biggest online retail store for cycling, running and triathlon products. No surprise CRC has a huge stock in quality brands. As new sponsor of the Genghis Khan Festival, CRC will not miss its debut and will please all participants with several chances to win great prizes.

In Memoriam: Ishmael Muscat

The dramatic news of the abrupt death of Ishmael Muscat also sent a shockwave through the Nordic Ways office this morning. Ishmael was a highly-appreciated regular participant at our bike events over the past six years, and his enthusiasm and dedication for the sport was an example for many. His passing is a big loss for the community.

Run and raise funds for Operation Smile

Changing lives one smile at a time is a great life's motto that every participant in the Genghis Khan Festival literally can live up to. Our charity partner Operation Smile has just introduced a professional fundraising page on for all people to help children with cleft lips and palates in the more needy regions of China.

The Hutong: your perfect trip add-on

The majority of participants in the Genghis Khan Festival pass through Beijing on their way to or from the Xiwuqi grasslands. For all those people, but also for Beijing residents, our promotional partner The Hutong offers a range of unique tours, classes and other experiences that are a superb add-on for any Beijing trip.
