Run & bike for Operation Smile

For the third consecutive year Operation Smile is our charity partner of choice and we are both very happy and motivated to promote its cause and bring a smile on the faces of children in need. By way of a donation or by raising funds every participant is highly welcome and encouraged to become a member of Team Operation Smile for the Genghis Khan Festival!

Be an Early Bird

Five days to go for Early Birds: sign up before Chinese New Year and enjoy a discount on race participation fees. As of Saturday prices indeed become regular. Don't hesitate as 610 people have already confirmed their registration, once again a sharp increase compared to last year and a four digit-participation number becomes increasingly likely for this summer. Please note we impose a 1200-person limit for 2014.

Focus on Athlete: Maria Jammernegg

Austria is a small mountainous country south of Germany that it better known for its skiers than for its bikers and runners, but last year the women's Grassland Half Marathon was won by an Austrian lady. Maria Jammernegg, together with her husband Franz and son Georg, has been one of the most cheerful participants of the Genghis Khan Festival in the last two years and her victory made a lot of people very happy. Let's get to know Maria a bit better via our traditional Q&A.

Racing the Planet new sponsor in 2014

We are excited and proud to announce our latest new sponsor of the Grassland Marathon 2014: RacingThePlanet. Headquartered in Hong Kong, RacingThePlanet - the Outdoor Store has become famous as a centre of expertise in offroad running and outdoor adventures, and all GKF participants now get a prime opportunity to upgrade their running experience. A great match and we are looking forward to a long and splendid cooperation!

WTB extends sponsorship of Genghis Khan MTB

The California MTB components company WTB, short for Wilderness Trail Bikes, has extended its sponsorship of our Genghis Khan MTB Adventure for a third consecutive year. Over the past two seasons, WTB has been essential in the growth of the event and we are very happy for the continued trust and support. Nordic Ways Beijing expresses its deep gratitude. Please read the official WTB press release below.

Welcome to our new event ambassadors

In 2013, three Chinese running stars and 62 of their fans and more than 20 families participated in the Grassland Marathon. After the storm passed through Yurt City on Saturday night, three super beautiful rainbows appeared in the sky and stunned everyone. "This is simply paradise on earth ", one participant exclaimed. In 2014, Nordic Ways will continue the event ambassador's programme and promote Genghis Khan Grassland Marathon in more places in China.

Focus on Athlete: Paul Campbell

As the Grassland Marathon is run almost entirely offroad, renowned ultrarunners have also been increasingly turning up in Xiwuqi over the past two years. One of those is Scotland's Paul Campbell, who lives and works in Beijing, and for whom no race is too long or tough. Let's find out how he experienced his grassland run in 2013.
